The boys had a 3 day holiday due to Carnival, so we took advantage of a beautiful day to visit the aquarium and a local castle by the sea.

Carnival
It is Carnival time in Portugal. Here is a great link where one of our friends expalined what Carnival/Mardi Gras/Lent season is about. http://hilldaleworship.blogspot.com/2011/03/mardi-gras-and-lent-explained-for.html
We went downtown on Tuesday, amid a drizzly shower of rain, to see if there were any celebrations taking place. We did not find a lot, but we did find a small children's carnival with cotton candy and farturas (funnel cakes). Well worth the trip - notice there is no picture of the farturas we bought - they never last long enough for a picture:)

Spring In Bloom
A few weeks ago we visited the Porto Botanical Garden with our friend Joee. It was hard to believe that this peaceful garden is right in the middle of town.
