"We look for visions from heaven, for earthquakes and thunders of God's power... and we never dream that all the time God is in the commonplace things and people around us. If we will do the duty that lies nearest, we shall see Him."
"Nós olhamos para as visões de céu, para terremotos e trovõs do poder de Deus ... e nós nunca sonhamos que o tempo todo de Deus está nas coisas comuns e as pessoas ao nosso redor. Se vamos fazer o dever que está mais próxima verremos a Deus."
Oswald Chambers

Things We Miss
There are some things you forget you miss until you have them. When I was in the States back in February I brought back a few bottles of rootbeer. OH the joy! We have been saving the last bottle as long as we possibly could. We finally opened it the last week and look.......

Assurance
In those times I can't seem to find God,
I rest in the assurance that He knows how to find me.
--Neva Coyle
Naqueles tempos eu não consigo encontrar a Deus,
Eu decanso na certeza de que Ele sabe como me encontrar.

Wonderful Music
Micah has been taking guitar lessons now for a few months and we have been so suprised at how quickly he has picked it up. The other night when Andy sat down at the piano, listen to what they played...

A Wondrous Beauty
"On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
the emblem of suffering and shame;
and I love that old cross where the dearest and best
for a world of lost sinners was slain.
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
and exchange it some day for a crown.
O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
has a wondrous attraction for me;
for the dear Lamb of God left his glory above
to bear it to dark Calvary.
In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
a wondrous beauty I see,
for 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
to pardon and sanctify me.
To that old rugged cross I will ever be true,
its shame and reproach gladly bear;
then he'll call me some day to my home far away,
where his glory forever I'll share."

Festa do Ethan
Saturday we had a small birthday party for Ethan. It was the first time we'd had a group of Portuguese kids in our home and we had a blast. We played Jenga and introduced them to Twister. We also built towers out of marshmellows and toothpicks. They loved it. It is wonderful to finally have "normal" events in our home and share our lives with the wonderful Portuguese people.

Attitude
"What is the difference between an obstacle and an opportunity?
Our attitude toward it.
Every opportunity has a difficulty, and every difficulty has an opportunity."

Evora
Week 2 of our Easter break started out with a great trip to Evora with our language teacher. This is a city about an hour from our house and it was wonderful! The city is completely surrounded by it's original city wall and is full of well preserved history. Over the centuries this city has been inhabited by both the Romans and Moors and there are many building and artifacts left behind. There is a Roman temple to Diana, a museum with artifacts dating back to the 1st and 2nd century century BC, ancient churches, etc.

Finally 14
This is a few days late, but Micah turned 14 last Friday. It is so hard to believe. As I looked back thorough pictures and memories I was reminded of what a wonderful young man he has become.
We are so blessed to be his parents.

Week One of Easter Break
I was suprised to find that the boys have 2 weeks for Easter Break. The first week we had 2 special friends visit that we met during training before moving overseas. We were so excited to see them and share our city with them. Unfortunatly I lost my pictures from Easter. The boys and our friends dyed easter eggs and they were so pretty, but you will just have to imagine how pretty they were.
